Stars ka tadka – Tabu

Tadka trivia

Tabu aka Tabassum Hashmi is one of the most talented actresses in the Indian Film Industry today. When she made her debut opposite Ajay Devgan in Vijaypath (1994), she went on to win a Filmfare Best Debutante Award. But soon the ‘Ruk ruk ruk’ gal made way for meaningful roles, which earned her some commercial, but overwhelmingly huge critical acclaim. She has played a romantic lead in movies like Pehla Pehla Pyaar, provided comic relief in Biwi No.1, done a mujra in Jeet, a village belle in Virasat, played a bar dancer in Chandni Bar (her National Award winning role), played the role of a terror-torn woman in Maachis, a funny nuisance in Hera Pheri, been a part of the ‘Shakespearesque’ Maqbool and much much more. Hollywood star Uma Thurman called her a brave actor for her intense portrayal in Mira Nair’s The Namesake, and this year she went away with yet another Filmfare Award for Critics’ Best Actress, for her to-die-for role in Cheeni Kum. It isn’t for nothing that they call her ‘the thinking man’s actress‘!

NDTV imagine – a breath of fresh air! (Part II)

Tadka spice – continuing our take on the revolution of sort in home entertainment, here’s some more on NDTV Imagine.

Radha Ki Betiyan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi is also a subtle family drama of a woman and her three daughters who migrate from Meerut to Mumbai, and the challenges they have to face in the world. Not just the overcrowded city, but even the landlady, in whose house they move in, keeps giving them trouble. The middle class, and the associated daily problems are brought in a well executed way on screen. Main Teri Parchaain Hun is another family drama, the story of a girl who has to pay a big price for a mistake. It has found place in those, looking beyond Ekta Kapoor productions, but not wanting to miss the sobbing!

Apart from these the NDTV Imagine has serials for kids, which are based on friendship and bravery. Dharam Veer is the story of two teenaged boys, who live in medieval India, while Rajkumar Aaryyan is the story of a prince and his adventures. Stars ka Tadka – Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan

Tadka trivia

Circa 1998: During the shooting of one of the sequences in Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kajol was riding a bicycle. During one of the takes for that scene, Kajol lost balance and fell off, injuring herself and losing consciousness. Cut to 2006: On the sets of Koffee With Karan, Shah Rukh Khan made fun of the incident by trying to irritate Kajol and saying that after she gained consciousness, her words were: “Main kahaan hun? Main kaun hun?!” The camaraderie of Kajol with Shah Rukh Khan, in all the five movies they did together, gave Bollywood it’s biggest hits ever:
Baazigar – 1993
Karan Arjun – 1995
Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge – 1995
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai – 1998
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham – 2001

15 years after they first came together, the world is still eager for the news of any movie in which the two might star together again!
