Is it just a report or the Indian media cannot get itself over with obsession of foreign accolades for desi flicks! Within minutes of British Heartthrob Robert Pattinson (who shot to fame as Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter 4) having declared Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, as one of the top five movies he loves, he was quoted here, there and everywhere, but thankfully media itself too is somewhat bored with DDLJ refusing to shed the limelight, that this time it came with subdued reporting, and not the screaming from the rooftop types!
India’s obsession with winning an Oscar award is visible with the G.K an average Indian possesses about the recent years’ Indian submission to Oscars’ Best Foreign Film category, but ask anyone about Dada Saheb Phalke Award for Excellence in Indian cinema, and one is likely to get a blank stare. in the last 2 decades of economic liberalization and globalization, a lot has changed but forgetting your roots while clamoring for foreign vibes about anything Indian is a surefire bad sign. Let’s hope this thing gets over soon, and Mila Jovovich’s desire to work with Salman Khan becomes the standard staple as Indian media fodder. Till then, we’ll go and be happy about DDLJ having won another phoren celeb’s heart, and forget to wonder about our hypocrisy on lamenting SRK’s RA.One while having grown up watching his superhits all this while!
