So it’s finally out that Aishwarya Rai will be portraying the role of an actress in Madhur Bhandarkar’s hard hitting take on the life of a female superstar, aptly titled ‘Heroine’. What makes the project immensely appealing is that fact that Aishwarya Rai will be directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, who has given her the opportunity to do much more than just look ravishingly beautiful. Earlier we heard about the likes of Kareena Kapoor etc., who turned down the offer apparently due to the bold scenes involved. Does this mean that Aishwarya, who turned down the likes of ‘Dostana’ and a few Hollywood projects allegedly due to the skin show involved, will be seen scorching the screen, or will Madhur silently snip away those sequences? Only time will tell. For now, her fans can rejoice in the fact that their favorite cine star will be seen in a gritty and different role, where she not only has a lot of potential to portray her acting abilities, but this will also be one of those rare moments when she’ll be seen in a gray role, or with possibly strong negative undertones.
