Music Review – New York (2009)

Yash Raj Films will be the first big production house to release their film after the long strike between the producers and multiplexers. After waiting for such a long time, YRF all set to release their first movie this year ‘New York’. The promos of New York were aired along with the release of ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ so its quite a long time for the music to release.

All right folks! So here we are bringing you the music review of New York, with music composed by Pritam Chakraborty, Pankaj Awasthi & Julius Packiam. Pritam who has been well established in the industry with his quality work. Lyrics are given by Sandeep Shrivastava and Junaid Wasi.

Hai Junoon - This is the first song of the movie New York. This song is soo much better than i expected. The guitar work is just outstanding and while listening to the song one would try to sing along with the tune. You will notice that it is not exactly the same as in the trailer, the melody is bit different. KK just rocked in this song and music by Pritam is just outstanding. The chorus work is simply amazing and as the chorus should do it doesn’t dominates the main vocal track. In all its the best song from the movie.

Mere Sang - The song starts with nice and gentle instrumental music along with some english vocals. sandeep Shrivatava has done an amazing work as the lyricist. The chorus agains did a splendid job, Sunidhi Chauhan vocals has provided the charm to the song. The only negative point in the track is repetitive loops which makes the song a little boring.

Tune Jo Na Kaha - The lyrics of this song are amazing too with moderate music and vocals. Mohit Chauhan has a beautiful voice and with his past records the expectations are much higher. This was not that great track by him but in all the track has some good background vocals with good music. This track might take some time to pick up but music will be loved by all.

Aye Saaye Mere - Music is just wow! but vocals of this track are not that good. It will be intersting to see how they have put up this song in the movie. Not much potential in this song and might get away un-noticed. Lyrics and music are just the right only problem are the vocals. They might have used this as an instrumental.

Sam’s Theme - This score takes this album to international standards. Music and vocals are just amazing. Caralisa Monteiro has done an amazing job and this track seems like you are listening to some english theme songs from TV shows or movies.

New York Theme - This track starts off well and with the introduction of electric guitar produces some fusion. This track isn’t that great like the Sam’s Theme but still it will match up great with the movie.

Mere Sang Remix - This song doesn’t need the remix version as it had random instrument and random filters. So a simple version will do eneough but still they have remixed. The remix is quite ok but i seriously dosn’t feel like doing it.

Hai Junnon Remix - This track will be top chart this year. The song promo has already been aired on television and this song will really rock the pubs and parties. Nothing negative in the track, no unnecessary filters or instruments used. Its just the perfect song of the movie.

Overall the album has some quite good songs to listen too. Starting with the song Hai Junoon including the remix (both are just outstanding), Tune Jo Naa Kaha & Sam’s theme are MUST LISTEN to songs from the movie New York. The album is yet another blockbuster from the Yash Raj Productions.

Tadka Rating : 3.75/5

Its amazing that the only music you have liked is not even original. Specifically the guiitar work is straight from indonesian song call ‘naluri lelaki’.
Google for the original and you will immediately notice of what I am talking.

Yupz, that is true…sorry to say, but the song (Hai Junoon) definately copied from indonesian band, yes he did it AGAIN, and as usual he copied then he denied it too…u said that Pritam has been well established in the industry with his “quality” work..hmmmm what kind of quality? I just wonder why PRITAM often copying songs from another musician…
If directors are getting inspired or copying from some other source they should mention in the song and credit the actual band or composer or artist…atleast people would get to know the real person behind the hard work, because you know u can’t just copy their song without their permission, it’s just plain rude.. and personally i think SAMSONS deserve all the credit
