Soft drink major PepsiCo has decided against renewing its long term association with its biggest brand ambassador, Shah Rukh Khan. The company is dropping SRK from the youngistaan advertisement campaign as it primarily focuses on youngster.
The actor confirmed that his contract is not being renewed by the company. “I am not a part of the campaign anymore, as of now we are not renewing the contract,” Khan said.
Asked if his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders would be tying up with the sponsors, he declined to comment saying the marketing division are in talks with the PepsiCo currently. The deal is expected to involve sponsorship of merchandise, aligning with the team as a beverage partner, and serving PepsiCo beverages in home stadiums. The association with KKR is expected to be finalized next week.
SRK’s dropping is the latest in the list of celebrites being dropped by PepsiCo in the recent times. Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly are already being dropped by the company.
Pepsi are now targetting the new generation. So for their youngistan project they are looking youngsters like Ishant Sharma and Rohit Sharma, who are now regular in the Indian Team.
The company now has only Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor from the bollywood. The brand value of SRK is high in the industry so the company will try to get his services besides the advertisement campaigns. Shah Rukh Khan is the longest serving brand ambassador of the PepsiCo.

Pepsi is 0% popular without Shah Rukh Khan. Expect lost Popularity and lost sales soon. This has to be PepsiCo’s biggest professional mistake. Love=Shah Rukh Khan=Pepsi.
