Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra dismisses rumors that hi much awaited Delhi-6 is an autobiography. He admits that he has used some memories of his childhood and youth in the movie. He also said that he has put only those things that he has observed when he was growing up in backdrop. It’s more of the colour of that life that has been used in the background and nothing else.

It’s the story of an Indian origin American boy Roshan Mehra who comes to India to drop his ailing grandmother. Its the journey of this man and hi search for his roots.

Delhi-6 is releasing on Feb 20, written by Rakesysh Omprakash Mehra along with Prasoon Joshi and Kamlesh Pandey. It stars Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Waheeda Rahman, Rishi Kapoor, Om Puri, Gulshan Grover, Atul Kulkarni, Divya Dutta and a dove that signifies the romantic composition in the plot. There’s also a surprise package, Amitabh Bachchan makes a guest appearance too.

Talking about the title, Mehra said, it symbolises the small town of the country where the heart of the city resides and with this movie we are trying to portray the real Delhi to the audiences. The movie posters also features the Statue of Liberty in Chandni Chowk. The staue has some meaning that people will get it once they watch the film. India is melting pot of cultures, religion and caste  and the statue relates from where the Abhishek (Roshan) comes back to his homeland.

A major part of the movie was shot in Rajasthan beacause he did not want to disturb the people living in Chandni Chowk. Only major aspects were captured of the walled city, so that nothing is being disturbed.

Mehra made his directorial debut with Aks in 2001 which passed unnoticed by many, but he made a blasting comeback with Rang De Basanti. The movie got acclaimed from everyone who watched the film.
