dil mera dil mera
dil mera… dil mera…
dil mera dil mera

dil gira kahin par dafatan
dil gira kahin par dafatan
jaane magar ye nayan
teri khamosh zulfon ki gehraiyan
hai jahan dil mera
uljha hua hai wahin… kho gaya
tu magar hai bekhabar
hai bekhabar

dil gira kahin par dafatan
kyon goonj rahe hai dhadkan(female)
jaane magar ye nayan

seepeeon ke honth se moti chhalak rahe hai
ghazalon ki shohbat mein geet bhi bahak rahe hain

samundar lahron ki lahron ki
chadar odhke so raha hai
par main jaagun
ek khumaari ek nasha sa ek nasha sa
ho raha hai
tu magar… tu magar
hai bekhabar hai bekhabar

dil gira kahin dafatan
kyon goonj rahe hai dhadkan(female)
jaane magar ye nayan
khushbuon mein lipte mausam(female)
teri khamosh zulfon ki gehraiyan
hai jahan dil mera
uljha hua hai wahin… kho gaya

tu magar hai bekhabar
hai bekhabar
dil gira kahin par dafatan
hm…mmm

From the lyricist: Sheer romance! I felt a bit in love with this song and wrote many versions of it. they are all beautiful. A R has composed an exceptional tune. We’ve used an exceptional and fresh male voice to sing it.

Can you please provide me the English translation of this song? My proficiency in Hindi is very low. But this song is too beautiful that I don’t want to enjoy it without knowing its meaning …

    Thanks & Regards,
    Kalyan.

    Dil mera
    (my heart)

    Dil gira kahin pe
    (my heart has fallen somewhere)

    Dil Gira kahin per daf_atan
(daf_atan: (urdu) all of a sudden, unexpectedly)
(my heart has fallen somewhere, all of a sudden)

    Jaane magar ye nayan
    (but these eyes know)

    Teri khamosh zulfon ki gehraiyaan
(the depths of your silent hairlocks)

Hai jahan dil meraa uljha hua hai
    (where my heart is entangled)

    wahi kho gaya
(there itself it, the heart, has got lost) – (NOTE: wahi should be wahin)

Tu magar hai bekhabar, hai bekhabar…
(but you are ignorant of it all)

    Kyun goonj rahi hai dhadkan
(why is the sound of heartbeats echoing)

Seepiyon ke honth se moti chhalak rahein hain
(pearls are getting sprinkled from the lips of shells)
NOTE: beautiful choice of words. Pearls got formed in shell in the sea.
the shells look like lips, in which teeth are like pearls which are
seen. meaning – the girl is smiling. Prasoon does Gulzar proud.

Ghazlon ki sohbat mein geet bhi behek rahein hai
(in the companionship of ghazals, songs are also getting intoxicated)
NOTE: ghazals are more a form of earthly, beauty things – sharab,
shabab, zulf, mehbooba, compared to other forms of poems. So, the
ghazals are affecting those other songs also.

samandar lahron ki chaadar odh ke so raha hai
(the sea, having covered itself with a sheet of the waves, is seeping)

    Par main jaagoon
    (but I stay awake)

Ek khumaari, ek nashaa sa ho raha hai
(a sort of intoxication is taking over me)

Tu magar hai bekhabar, hai bekhabar
    (but you are ignorant)
