masak kali masak kali
ud matak kali matak kali

zara pankh jhatak
gayi dhool atak
aur lachak dur bhatak
ud dagar dagar
kasbe kooche
nukkad basti mein ye ye ye
tadi se mud ada se ud
karle poori dil ki tamanna
hawa se jud ada se ud
phur phur phur
tu hai heera panna re
masak kali masak kali
ud matak kali matak kali
masak kali masak kali
ud matak kali matak kali

ghar tera saloni badal ki colony
dikhlaade thenge in sabko jo udna naa jaane

udiyo na dariyo kar
manmaani manmaani manmaani
badhiyo naa mudiyo kar naadani
udiyo na dariyo kar
manmaani manmaani manmaani
badhiyo naa mudiyo kar naadani
tan taanle muskaan le
kahe sana nana nana nanana hawa
bas thaan le tu jaan le
kahe sana nana nana nanana hawa
ei masak kali masak kali
ud matak kali matak kali
ei masak kali masak masak kali
masak kali masak kali
ud matak matak matak…

aalaap…..
aalaap…..

tujhe kya gham tera rishta
gagan ki baansuri se hai
pawan ki guftagoo se hai
sooraj ki raushni se hai

udiyo na dariyo kar
manmaani manmaani manmaani
badhiyo naa mudiyo kar naadani
udiyo na dariyo kar
manmaani manmaani manmaani
badhiyo naa mudiyo kar naadani
tan taanle muskaan le
kahe sana nana nana nanana hawa
bas thaan le tu jaan le
kahe sana nana nana nanana hawa

masak kali masak kali
ud matak matak matak kali
masak kali masak masak kali
ha ha ha ha ha

aalaap……
aalaap……

This song was a trip. I’ve intended to rely on imagery to transport you to my world. It may make more sense when you see the film but i do think that it’ll connect even without an overt context. Because it’s about freedom. Masakalu could be the soul. Masakali could be the inspired desire, it could be an innocent dream in the strangelehold of worldly expectations. Hear it symbolically and you will find many a connect. It’s got its own flavour enhcnaced by mohit’s singing.

    hic. sorry.
forget to Thanks Mohit for his Tremendous contributions, without which (his straight voice) nothing would’ve been achieved. Now please don’t tell me that straight voice is nothing which is unheard. Straight voice means “voice of people who are unheard of”. that’s all.

    Regards,

    A. R. Rehman, you are megician. I saw “Roja” n 1994 and as heard the music i informed those all sitting near me ” this music is from a new man. ” We rewinded and see the title again and found yes the music director is A. R. Rehman. Sound s new and i predicted ” India u r lucky u got another R. D Burman” When the man received Oscor. Every one here in Pakistan started believing me.
