Movie Review – Luck By Chance
The movie ‘Luck By Chance‘ is about the struggle in becoming a star in Bollywood, about actors who are waiting for things to happen, about getting lucky by chance. It might seem that this genre couldn’t work anymore – a number of movies have already been made on the same theme, notably Guddi, Rangeela, Om Shanti Om – but Zoya Akhtar along with an excellent star cast manage to do the trick.
Farhan Akhtar plays Vikram Jaisingh who comes to the city of dreams Mumbai from Delhi to become a star. Here he meets Sona, played by the magnificent Konkona Sen Sharma, who has been hoping of becoming a lead actress in an A grade film for the last three years. Taking advantage of her is Chaudhary, played by Aly Khan, a small time producer who has been assuring her of that one big break and in return of which he is sexually exploiting her and assigning her B grade projects. Vikram and Sona start getting closer as they wait for their luck to change.
Romy Rolly (the evergreen Rishi Kapoor) is a successful producer who only works with the biggest stars. He is making a potential blockbuster launching Niki (Isha Sharwani), the daughter of a 1970s diva Neena (the gracious and ever-beautiful Dimple Kapadia). Read more
Mickey Rourke In The Lead Role For Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Hollywood Debut ‘Broken Horses’
Mr. Vidhu Vinod Chopra has series of incredible films under his belt. The director is now set to mark his directorial debut in Hollywood with his first big project ‘Broken Horses‘. His hunt for the lead actor is finally over. The filmmaker has signed Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler). Mickey Rourke has won this year’s Golden Globe for best actor and is also the Oscar contender for his film ‘The Wrestler‘.
Mr. Chopra revelaed that he had seen the special screening of Rourke’s The Wrestler before the awards fever, and he was bowled over with his performance. Both of us had an instant connection when we met in Los Angeles. He also said that, Rourke was his first choice even before he won the Golden Globes Award. Anurag And John Teams Again For Bombay Velvet
If you thought that Anurag Kashyap and John Abraham were off after ‘No Smoking‘, then it’s time for you to think again. After having two major productions on the roll ‘Dev D‘ and a project on the comic series Doga, Kashyap has signed John for his next venture ‘Bombay Velvet‘.
Kashyap said, “John character is based on a real life hero of the masses from the 1960s. It’s a triller based on real incidents. The idea was developed over the last four years with inputs from several renowned individuals including history professor Gyan Praksash.”
Kashyap also said, “I haven’t worked on this kind of a budget before. I want to be sure of the script. After No Smoking, John and I want to make sure our film is accessible to the audience. Farhan’s Next – A Psychological Thriller
Farhan Akhtar has a penchant for working with the first time directors. Rock On!! is not the first film of Abhishek Kapoor, but it truely discovered the real talent of Abhishek. Farhan’s next release, Luck By Chance is also helmed by a first-timer, his sister Zoya Akhtar. the film has already created much hype in the industry and outside. The film is getting great reviews by everyone who watched the film.
After this great start Farhan is all set to face the camera again as an actor. “Kartik Calling Kartik” is his next movie directed by newcomer Vijay Lalwani. This one’s a psychological thriller.
Besides acting in his home productions, Farhan and his partner Ritesh Sidwani are all set for the next venture starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan.The film will be directed by Abhay Deo, who’s currently directing Aamir Khan’s home production “Delhi Belly“.
So where does it leaves “DON 2“? As told by Farhan, DON2 has been shifted ahead. it was planned to begin shooting in summer this year, but Shahrukh Khan is busy with Karan Johar’s film currently, so Farhan has decided to push it to the next year. In the meanwhile Farhan is also starting a new film this year, it’s a romantic comedy. The casting is yet to be finalized.
