Luck By Chance starts the directorial career of Farhan Akhtar’s sister Zoya Akhtar. She wants everything to be in the right place with her first movie. So lets start from the music of the movie Luck By Chance. The promos are out on the small screen and they seems to be very interesting and something different. The first promo song is also out on the small screen and the song really promises some great music from the first movie of Zoya Akhtar.
Luck by Chance music is composed by Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa and the lyrics are written by Javed Akhtar. So with these names you must be expecting a lot. Rock On!! the earlier release this year is a global hit album of the year so there is lot to expect from these people.
‘Ye Zindagi Bhi‘ is the first track from the album composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and lyrics by Javed Akhtar. A very captivating aspect of the song is the singing by Loy Mendonsa & Shekhar Ravjiani. The song has a bassy start accompanied with great lyrics and unusual composition. The pace is slow and holding upto the mark. The negative point in the song is the same music is played throughout the song in a loop but it has a great potential.
‘Bawre‘ is the second track from the album composed by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy and Lyrics by Javed Akhtar. The song starts with the classical touch which is quite refreshing. Both Loy Mendonsa & Shankar Mahadevan did a great job and suddenly the songs turns into a different filmi style. The lyrics are something very different having a jugalbandi of Shankar and Loy which is amazing. After around 3 minutes, the song tempo just shoots up to complete techno/modern music with classical alaaps in the background, reflecting a complete fusion. And in the last we get back to the filmi style, so in total this song is a great mixture of three different genres- classical, filmy and fusion.
‘Pyaar Ki Dastaan‘, third track from the album is also a mixture of piano‘s tune, techno beats later and then some generic instruments used for the filmi music and finally all of them comes together. Both the lyrics and vocals are great in the song. Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy has composed the music and Javed Akhtar is the lyricst.
‘Ye Aaj Kya Ho Gaya‘ song is sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and is a slow pace song with drum beats keep rolling in the background during the full track which maintains the tempo of the song. Lyrics are quite hummable and catchy to hear.
‘Sapnon Se Bhare Naina‘ is the song whose promos are out on the small screen. This song is the best track from the album that promises so much from the movie. Shankar vocals gets one into trance from which coming back is just impossible. Lyrics of this song are one of the most appreciated one from the album. I recommend you all to catch this song. It’s simply beautiful to say the least.
‘O Rahi re‘ song reminds something of the “Khabar Nahi” song from the movie ‘Dostana‘. Lyrics are great and music again something unusual. Shankar sparks this song with his vocals. The guitar tune gets and extra point in the song. With music belonging to the similar genre, this song has a lesser potential to be a hit, unlike “Sapno se Bhare Naina.”
On the whole Luck By Chance has great potential. Lyrics are very unusual and refreshing. Full credits to Javed Akhtar for his great lyrics. Shankar Ehsaan and Loy had proved themselves in the past many time and this time again they are back to rock again. In short Zoya Akhtar’s Luck By Chance has so much to offer from his first movie. So just wait and watch for the movie and grab your Audio CD’s for Luck By Chance. I give it a clear 4 stars.
