Movie review – Sarkar Raj

Tadka spice – It couldn’t get better than this for Ram Gopal Verma and the three Bachchans! Sarkar Raj is a winner from the word go!
Jai Maharashtra…!!! No, no, Paresh Rawal doesn’t go around parading as Shivaji in Sarkar Raj folks. This is the slogan of a family who work for the benefit of their people and yet are on the wrong side of the law at times.
Bhaiyon aur behnon, Sarkar Raj pesh karte hain, ek baar phir, Nagre family, masala maar ke (re: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan). Ram Gopal Verma is back in business, and thankfully for him he has been able to not just cast a coup of sorts, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (oooh! she’s fiery in this one), but he also manages to get such great scenes out of them that you’ll be chanting while coming out of the halls: Ram-u naam Satya ka hai! Meaning – Ram Gopal Verma is at his best again, underworld, Mumbai and people, something he started with movies like Satya…
…and quite well at that! This time, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starts it all (fasaad ki jadd!) As an NRI businesswoman, she comes into amchi Mumbai looking for only profits, and gets the able support of the Nagre clout. But hamare Abhi-shake bhaiya! How can he not think beyond profits? It’s his people na, and the reigns of the Sarkar Raj are in his hands too because Pa is a little old right now! And then come the dushmans, the enemies of this family who provoke people against the project in order to oust the family from power. And thus begins a thrilling game of fiery close up shots and the shadowy games that rivals play against each other.
Sarkar Raj! Yes, it’s a winner and no, if you are thinking that Abhishek gets to do all the goody goody or even the baddy baddy stuff, you are wrong. Amitabh Bachchan rises, coz a lion is a lion, old yet experienced. And mademoiselle Aishwarya! Ye itni kamini niklegi, maine kabhi socha bhi na tha! :p She plays a pure business minded lady with such finesse that even if you might not scream ‘bitch’ at her character, you are likely to scream ‘gimme more’.. more of Ash in shades of gray!
And lastly, Sarkar Raj has got ishtyle! Yup! The games cinematographers play with sunlights and darkness to bring out a character’s myriad emotions are one of the high points of the film. The movie is stylish, yet subtle too! The background music is deja-who (:p) but is effective just as it was in the first one. And the acting is superb… If only Abhi-Ash went mwah-mwah-muah and putchhi showering at each other…
Enough of the review! Go watch Sarkar Raj man! and tell us what you thought of it…( – waise bhi is site pe koi aata nahi hai) Enjoy !!
