Tadka Mosoon Fever - Shubha Mudgal’s ‘Ab Ke Saawan’ is perhaps one of the first Hindi rain songs which come to one’s mind when mentioned monsoons! Here are the lyrics, drenched in energy, love and enjoyment…

ab ke saawan, aise barse…
behe jaaye rang, meri chunar se…
bheege tann mann, jiya na tarse…
jamke barse zara…

rut saawan ki…
ghataa saawan ki…
ghataa saawan ki, aise jam ke barse…

ab ke saawan, aise barse…
behe jaaye rang, meri chunar se…
bheege tann mann, jiya na tarse…
jamke barse zara…

jhadi barkha ki…
lari boondon ki…
lari boondon ki, toot ke yun barse…

rut saawan ki…
ghataa saawan ki…
ghataa saawan ki, aise jam ke barse… e-he1…

pehle pyaar ki pehli barkha, kaisi aas jagaaye…
baarishein pine de mujhko, mann haraa ho jaaye…
pyaasi dharti, pyaase armaan, pyaasa hai ye jahaan…
bheegne do, har gali ko,
bheegne do jahaan….

ab ke saawan, aise barse…
behe jaaye rang, meri chunar se…
bheege tann mann, jiya na tarse…
jamke barse zara…

rut saawan ki…
ghataa saawan ki…
ghataa saawan ki, aise jam ke barse…

rut saawan ki…
ghataa saawan ki…
ghataa saawan ki, aise jam ke barse…

naaj badri, ki bikhar ke, motiban chharr jaaye-e-e-e….
bheeg jaaye, sajna mera, laut kar ghar aaye…
dooriyon ka, nahi ye mausam, aaj hai wo kahaan…
makhmali si, ye phuhaarein, urr rahi hain yahaan…

ab ke saawan, aise barse…
behe jaaye rang, meri chunar se…
bheege tann mann, jiya na tarse…
jamke barse zara…

rut saawan ki…
ghataa saawan ki…
ghataa saawan ki, aise jam ke barse…

jhadi barkha ki…
lari boondon ki…
lari boondon ki, toot ke yun barse…

rut saawan ki…
ghataa saawan ki…
ghataa saawan ki, aise jam ke barse…

jhadi barkha ki…
lari boondon ki…
lari boondon ki, toot ke yun barse…

Shubha Mudgal‘s ‘Ab Ke Saawan‘ which came to us long timje back still is as fresh as this morning’s memories in the minds of this songs listeners. The pop number by one of the most coveted classical singers from India, Shubha Mudgal‘s ‘Ab Ke Saawan‘ scored the perfect goals with the audiences, with the video which featured a crowd’s myriad reactions to the rains, which have been the most lovable season, for love’s sake of course, at least in India. Most of the rain songs which have been from the movies are swathed in plots/sub-plots of the movie or it’s lead characters’ chemistry, but Shubha Mudgal‘s ‘Ab Ke Saawan‘ was one song which had no strings attached… or perhaps it did have, what with fun, laughter, enjoyment becoming some of the many positive qualities of this song. Shubha Mudgal‘s ‘Ab Ke Saawan‘ remains a treat to one’s ears, because of the potpourri of perfect lyrics which engaged in a kinda Sufism, not focussing on drenched chiffon saris et al… and the music and the perfect singing by our very own Shubha Mudgal. The song appealed massively to the youngsters, not just those in love, and cut across all age barriers when it came to it’s success. So what are you waiting for folks? Go ahead and get bedraggled in love’s fury in the times of monsoons ;)
