Tadka question – Is the big bad Bollywood taking it’s superlatives too seriously?
‘Chalti ka naam … zubaan??’ Wassup Bollywood? Seems like things are getting out of hand with each passing day. Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan are busy not as much with movies, as they seem to be engaging in the war of the words. The latest and quite tatsteless take being that by Aamir Khan on Shah Rukh Khan, where he talks about having a dog names Shah Rukh, which came as part and parcel of this house he bought long time back!
In addition to his take on Amitabh Bachchan and Bhansali‘s handling of the movie Black, and Amitabh Bachchan‘s blog speaking volumes about his views on myriad topics, you have another one joining the banned-wagon, Salman Khan saying that Vivek Oberoi is overpriced! Well, we said ‘banned’-wagon only because this is the same Bollywood which used to run like a small family, with it’s fair share of ups and downs, till the early years of 20th century, and washing your dirty-linen in the public was banned. But now, all diplomacy has gone to the dust-bin and stars don’t want to be seen as politically-correct persons, they would rather slug it out and vent their ire!
Meanwhile, the ladies are no less, but their fights are still limited to media reports, half of them being false, at least being claimed as false… Pooja Bedi and Celina Jaitley were engaged in a strife a few weeks back and Celina turns silly-na as she sues Miss Bedi for crores! What was she thinking? She doesn’t have one credible peice of a hit movie, leave alone acting skills which don’t even have the ‘a’ of acting. But the A-listers like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor have all mastered the art of saying “the talks of me and her sharing cold vibes is all some journalist’s imagination!
Well, imagination or not, the fact remains that Bollywood is more than willing to ‘sort things out’ straight and it doesn’t care if the ‘family’ it once was, fails to exist now. The only ones gaining from all this are the media reporters who get fodder for their journals, and not just plain fodder, it comes in different varieties just like those burgers which come with different ingredients. But whether or not this ‘bur-grrr’ can seriously upset the stomach of Bollywood, only time will tell!
