Movie review – Race

Tadka spice – The Abbas-Mustaan brothares are back this time, but with lots more than you expected!

You might wanna race to finish reading this movie review, coz there’s definitely gonna be a race for the movie tickets of Race! Too quick, complex or stylish? That’s exactly Abbas-Mustaan‘s Race for you. In a long time comes a movie which won’t let you use the cliche ‘all style and no substance’, coz Race is style and substance combined almost perfectly. Welcome to a potential blockbuster in process!

What works for Race is the racy plot, the direction, the acting, the music too but most of all it is the slick twists and turns that make your entertainment a full paisa vasool. The screenplay is great, the pace is in keeping with the movie’s name and the the trio Akshaye Khanna, Bipashs Basu and Saif Ali Khan are pure fun to watch. Of course there’s Katrina Kaif too, but without much to deliver other than being just a pretty face. Anil Kapoor is good as always and Sameera Reddy also manages to show some talent.

And in case you are interested to know the plot, here’s a sneak peak, without any spoilers. Race is the story of two brothers, elder one being Saif Ali Khan and younger one being Akshaye Khanna. Now, it so happens that bade bhaiyya comes away with all the property and riches attached, leaving chhotta bhai totally dependent on his generosity. This prompts Akshaye to do something, something which he sees in the sultry lass Bipasha Basu, whom he sends after bada bhai for obvious reasons! But one of Saif’s dialogues on the kind of people he is scared of, soon gives way to a lot of deceit paraphernalia, where loyalties change just like water slips out of your hands.

And thus begins a whodunnit mixed with a wild goose chase and a series of ‘kahaani mein twists’, which keep you engaged to the core. The second half as expected goes somewhat down as compared to the first but in all, Race is the one thriller that you have been waiting to watch for quite some time now. It has all the Abbas-Mustaan related great stuff, the action being the best, and the just don’t wanna miss watching this one on the big screen. Time for you now to Race for the tickets! Enjoy!
