Tadka spice – The favourite actor, producer and now director, of millions of hearts, Aamir Khan, the perfectionist, turns 43 today!

On March 14, 1965, Aamir Khan was born to noted film maker Tahir Hussain, in Mumbai. Aamir first faced the screen in 1973, with the movie Yaadon Ki Baraat, a movie directed by his father. Eleven years later, in 1984 he made his debut with Ketan Mehta‘s Holi, but it wasn’t until 1988 that he made his big debut with Aamir’s cousing Mansoor Khan‘s Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

What followed was mass fan following. The movie was a blockbuster and Aamir went on a signing spree, which harmed his career, earning him the label of ‘a one film wonder’. Soon, Aamir took an intelligent decision, to act in only one movie at a time, and started choosing his roles very wisely. Aamir won several nominations in Filmfare Awards for his terrific performances, but it was Dharmesh Darshan‘s Raja Hindustani which won him his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

But the actor, who was also termed a perfectionist by now, had declared that awards were biased and he had stopped attending all the award functions a long time back!

Aamir‘s versatility has been proved time and again with his most remembered roles being the comic one in Andaz Apna Apna, the lover in Raja Hindustani, the lost and rediscovered one in Ghulam, the inspector in Sarfarosh, the villager in Lagaan, the friend in Dil Chahta Hai, the rebel in Rang De Basanti and now the role of an actual director, for Taare Zameen Par. Aamir has recently started a blog of his own too.

Aamir Khan doesn’t give sound bytes, but stays in news for controversies as well. Not so long ago, it was for supporting the rehabilitation of villagers dislocated by a dam, and recently for taking over the reigns of direction from a good friend Amol Gupte, as he thought the he could do better justice to the theme. Whatever it might be, Aamir has proved that he is a force to reckon with and that people will keep waiting for his elusive appearances, more than anything else. We wish him a very happy birthday, and a lot of success ahead :)
