Sanjay Leela Bhansali is back home after an exhausting yet exhilarating performance in Paris, of his firt opera Padmavati. And even though some in India are running down the director of Saawariya, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has done us proud by getting the audiences hooked like anything, with just four performances! One of the world’s fashion capital and city of love, Paris was wowed by Sanjay‘s grandeur and eccentricities which he showcased in his opera.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been booed by a handful of Indian film fraternity members, some of whom too young and claiming that his opera must have gone half empty, in stark contrast to the reality, where all his performances ended with cheers of ‘Bravo, bravo!‘ and ‘Encore‘. Sanjay is more than satisfied, especially after the showdown which happened four months back when his Saawariya released the same day as Farah Khan‘s Om Shanti Om.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has given gems like Khamoshi, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Black, has a lot of both hopes and expectations with his next directorial venture. It was reported some time back that his next was titled Meri Jaan Ho Tum, but no confirmation of any sort arrived. Sanjay‘s vision and direction style goes much beyond the usual run-of-the-mill stuff that some of the other ‘top’ directors make. This is precisely the reason that even though Saawariya didn’t manage to rake in much moolah, but the sweeping shots and out-of-the-world experience that he created on screen made it a treat to watch nevertheless.
Big mouth Sajid Khan, (brother of Farah Khan) who himself made his directorial debut only last year with Heyy Babyy, made some nasty comments on Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Saawariya, saying that it must be accepted as a flop, even though his own movie did whatever business it could because of just Akshay Kumar. Moreover, Farah Khan‘s Om Shanti Om‘s registering itself was only the result of the overhype which they played to the hilt. What Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s fans are waiting for, is his next blockbuster which will throw mud on the faces of his detractors.
