Tadka spice - The movie has been in the news for quite a while now. Bollywood Tadka brings to you the exclusive movie preview of The Last Lear.

Rituparno Ghosh is back with The Last Lear. The movie has evoked the interest of many, perhaps for it’s star cast, which includes Amitabh Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Arjun Rampal. This is one of those times when Rituparno Ghosh is working with such big stars, after he made Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgan bowl over the audiences in Raincoat, and gave Aishwarya a career high in Chokher Bali.

The Last Lear is a story which is set in Kolkata and Mussorie. It is the story of a sixty five years old reclusive character played by Amitabh Bachchan, a Shaesperean actor, who agrees to do a film for the young film maker Arjun Rampal, after much reluctance. Preity Zinta enters the scene as a struggling and bad actor, perhaps because of her own life which creates havoc now and again. Preity meets Big B, in whom she finds a mentor, who teaches her not just in front of the camera, but beyond it as well.

After having delivered some off-beat cinema like Dosar, starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Prasenjit Chatterjee, which was nominated at the 60th Cannes Film Festival and Antar Mahal, which starred Jackie Shroff, Rupa Ganguly, Soha Ali Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, Rituparno Ghosh’s The Last Lear is eagerly awaited not just by cinema lovers, but by cinema owners alike, as the film holds a strong commercial potential.

Rituparno Ghosh’s cinema has done a great job for many actors, which their commercial directors couldn’t do for them. Aishwarya Rai in Chokher Bali is still strongly remembered for her sheer brilliance in that role, as much as she is for Rituparno’s Raincoat too. And this time Preity Zinta and Arjun Rampalwill gain a lot for their careers, inspite of the movie’s commercial fate. Let’s wait and watch, what the bong task master has got in store for us!
