In the year 1995, a new award category was introduced for the first, as well as the last time itself. The category was Best Costume Designer, and the only ever such Filmfare award was given to Manish Malhotra, for his work on Urmila Matondkar‘s clothes in the movie Rangeela. Though many costume designers like Neeta Lulla, and the duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla have become known names in the Indian Film Industry, this award was never ever given to anyone else. Manish Malhotra is the only designer in thw world, who can claim to have won an award which, probably, no one will ever get again. Beat that!
Urmila Matondkar had acted in experimental roles for the last 15 years. Btu the viewers remember her more in scary characters created by Ram Gopal Verma. She acted as a child artist in Masoom, in 1983.
