Tadka spice: What makes the album Aaja Nachle a sought after one? Will the songs provide Madhuri Dixit’s comeback the required support? Click on ‘Read more’ to view the complete music review of Yash Raj Films’ Aaja Nachle.
And now we bring to you the music review of Madhuri Dixit‘s comeback movie, Aaja Nachle. The movie is directed by Anil Mehta and stars Madhuri Dixit, Konkona Sen Sharma, Akshaye Khanna and Kunal Kapoor, with music by Salim – Sulaiman, lyrics by Jaideep Sahni (of Chak De India! fame) and Piyush Mehra.
The album kicks off with the title track ‘Aaja Nachle‘ sung by one of the leading singers of Bollywood, Sunidhi Chauhan. The song not just proves that Sunidhi is one firebrand singer, but it’s lyrics aptly capture the spirit of Madhuri’s comeback and all the excitement associated with it. The lyricists have done a great job, capturing every naughty prank, excitement of asking the lover to come and dance along and such feelings.
Another singer, Shreya Ghosal (who started her career with Madhuri’s last movie 5 years back, Devdas) teams up with Sonu Nigam, to create a great soothing track which just flows with time. The song ‘Is Pal‘ is one slow yet completely romanticised melody of a song, which seems like it is here to stay, and stay here for a long time. Moving from one great track, to another, ‘Ishq Hua‘ is another soft romantic song to watch out for. Once again Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam bring out the charm in their voices, to put magic into a soulful track. The lyrics of both the tracks are good once again, and it is basically the execution, that will have you hooked on the song for a long time to come. Just like ‘My Dil Goes Hmmm…’ from Salaam Namaste.
Sunidhi Chauhan revs up another track, this time a sad one, which goes ‘Koi Pathhar Se Na Maare‘ and even though your memory would be rekindled to the classic by the same name, but once again Sunidhi’s versatile voice renders the song a new touch, and move it a notch higher with Sonu Nigam joining in half way through the song. But the sad tone might just put you off, unless you are in a seriously gloomy mood. Sonia Saigal, another singer comes unknowingly into the album with ‘Dance With Me‘ as if she has gatecrashed with a song which is in english, and most probably the song will hardly be remembered for anything. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan too has sung a solo song for the album, a slow track called ‘O Re Pia‘, which has some great beats and some nice lyrics as well.
Richa Sharma, Kailash Kher and Salim Merchant make up for it all with a great fast paced track ‘Show Me Your Jalwa‘, which with it’s free and fun styled execution will soon be a rage. Kailash Kher as usual, brings an altogether new high to the song, and with Richa Sharma coming after probably a long time, both of them provide a sufiyaana charm to the song. The lyrics are exciting too. Another Punjabi voice Sukhwinder Singh comes with Sunidhi Chauhan, in another fast paced and aptly written song, ‘Soniye Mil Ja‘.
As final verdict, it can be said that ‘Aaja Nachle’ is an album with quite some good songs and must be bought, if you want some great melodies to stay with you, with a range of emotions expressed in them.

Good review. Just a small correction. The song “Koi Pathar Se” is sung mostly by Shreya Ghoshal with the initial few lines rendered by Sunidhi. No offense meant, but it is Shreya’s unique versatality which makes you feel it is by Sunidhi (Listen to Ishq Hua and you will know how different her voice is from Is Pal). Nevertheless, this album is very good on ears esp. Ishq Hua, Is Pal, O Re Piya and the title track which stands out. Commendable review.
Thank you for the correction, Karthik. We will keep it in mind to avoid such errors and thanks again for the appreciation.
Truely Commendable. Title is perfect Madhuri Type Song. Apart from there aresuperb songs like “Show Me Your Jalawa”, “Mil Ja Mele Me”. English track although sounds outdated but I m sure its picturization will make it. There is slow track “Koi Patthar Se” which is very nice.
Overall I loved the entire album.. worth buying it…
