Song analysis – if it had to be Madhuri’s comeback vehicle, ‘Aaja Nachle‘ was supposed to be a song with all the right ingredients to showcase her versatility as a dancer, and to top it all, the lyrics had to be different. Verdict? The song hits the target bang-on. Jaideep Sahni, high on the success of Chak De India, has done a great job. Here is a woman dancing, and declaring her return to the big screen after a five year sabbatical (post Devdas) and Sunidhi Chauhan’s voice suits Madhuri so well, that you may be forgiven to ask ‘Is it really Sunidhi Chauhan who has sung this song?’. Even Sunidhi has proved once again that when it comes to versatility, she is a force to reckon with. The music by Salim-Sulaiman is exciting and the use of shehnai as well as the sarangi in the instruments is not just for the sake of it. It is to remind you of the songs in the 90’s when Madhuri would sway to beats of seemingly each and every musical instrument, and to the tunes of each and every music director. In short, ‘aaja nachle’ is a song which is as great as Madhuri Dixit’s return to the big screen. Enjoy!!
