Here we are, presenting you the exclusive first look of one of the most awaited movies of the year, Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa-Akbar.

After the critically acclaimed Swades, Ashutosh Gowariker is back this time with a jodi that scorched up our screens with their lip-locking and much more when fopr the first time Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan were paired opposite each other, in Dhoom 2: Back In Action. Well, once again they are here, (minus the kiss, as reported) to tell the fables of a Muslim emperor Akbar and a feisty Hindu princess Jodhaa. Set against the political and historical time frame of Hindustan in the 16th century, when Mughal rulers and Hindu kings ruled different part of the country, the movie boasts of the most lavish expenditure ever done for an Indian film, with real jewellery having been used for all of the lead star cast.

Emperor Akbar (Hrithik Roshan) is one of the most powerful rulers of his time, and he is known for his valor as well as honesty. His popularity is spread far and wide. In the mixed cultures, there can be a lot of tension, and it is then that the Hindu King Bharmal of Amer, comes ahead with a proposal to marry his daughter with Akbar, in order to strengthen their friendship and turn it into a relationship. His daughter is Jodhaa (Aishwarya Rai), a beautiful yet feist young princess. This relationship, as can be seen, is more than just an alliance, as it is meant to get political benefits.

The movie goes on to tell the story of the Mughal emperor and his wife, and the problems and difficult times that both of them are forced to face, and how they tackle the issues, with their witty personalities.

The credits of the movie will have the name ‘Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’, and Sonu Sood would be playing the role of Ash’s brother (we hope he doesn’t disappear as did Arya Babbar in Guru, who played the younger brother of Ash in the Mani Ratnam flick). Punam Sinha, Shatrugan Sinha’s wife too would be seen in this movie, and Raza Murad along with Kulbhushan Kharbanda would be seen in key roles as well. Joining this fantastic starcast would be none other than the renowned folk singer Ila Arun. Surendra Pal and Suhasini Mulay would also be seen in the movie.

The visual effects have been provided by the Tata ELXSI VCL, and the processing has been done by Adlabs. Choreography is by Chinni Prakash, Rekha Prakash and Raju Khan. But most importantly, the movie is also amongst those whose music has been awaited like desert after dinner. The lyrics have been done by who else but, Javed Akhtar, but the best part remains the music director, who is nopne other than A.R. Rahman, who worked wonders in Ashutosh’s previous two movies as well, Lagaan and Swades. Well, we wish the team all the best, and all those dying to see the first rushes of the movie, (which were actually shown at this year’s Cannes Film Festival), can rush to their nearest theatres, as the first theatrical trailers were released yesterday. And for the rest, we’ll upload the trailer right here itself. Stay tuned!
